Despite the heat and humidity of this summer, Grafton has managed to escape the fury of Mother Nature until Saturday August 6, when lightning, heavy winds and rain brought down trees and tree limbs across wires and roadways, snapped power poles, and generally made quite a mess.[private] Grafton Town Supervisor Ingrid Gundrum said she received no reports of any injuries or serious structural damage, but power was out for several hours, even overnight in a few places.
National Grid brought in outside crews to help re-establish electrical service, including Harlan Electrical Construction from Methuen, Massachusetts to replace a pole whose top was snapped off on Cranberry Pond Road. [/private]
