Walter Wood High School Reunion Is Well-Attended

The 35th Annual Walter A. Wood Alumni Reunion was held at the Pittstown Rescue Squad on Saturday, June 11. Approximately 150 members and guests from the 50-year and over graduating classes attended. A turkey dinner was served and Ronald Seifert was Master of Ceremonies. Invocation was given by Malcolm Brownell. Janice Tate introduced the M.C. following dinner, and classes were introduced. [private]The 50-year Class of 1966 was introduced by George Starr, including Darlene Wilson Starr, Susan Brownell Hoag, Edwin King, Robert Farqaharson, Marie Schmigel McClumpha, Diane Redden Martin, George Harrison, Wilda Sheffer, Ted Rice, Martha Stevens Shoff, Kenneth White, Ronald Danforth, Judith Richards, Diane Bingham Stevens, Thomas Lemon, Nancy Taber, and Elizabeth Davison {Class of 1964), in memory of her sister, Suzanne Davison, who would have graduated in 1966. Ron Seifert introduced his Class of 1956, including Janet Pine Bugbee, Janice LeBarron Tate, Jerry Tate, Charles Pytko, Greta Daun, Richard Farrara, Helen Darling Tifft, and Ronald Dooley. Ron then recognized those attending from 1951 (65 years): Donald Babcock; Malcolm Brownell, Roger LeMere, David Durfee, Sandra Curtice Hayden, Wilma Siemens Gutermuth, Mary Jane Comanzo, Mary Lou Snyder Hartnett, Charles Kalinowski, Caroline Reagan Bornt, Giles Russell, Janet Eddy Moses, Carleton Philpott, and Marilyn Byars Robinson.
From the Class of 1950 were Mabel LeBarron Schillaci, Yngveig May Lewis, and Gwen Hewitt White. Class of 1949 was Paul Prebble, Class of 1948 were Robert Cipperly and William Petitt, Class of 1947 were Barbara Eldridge Brackett, Marion Siemens Cipperly, Gwen McMartin Smith, and Iva Hewitt Durkee. Attending from the 70-yr. Class of 1946 were Isabel Ogilvie McGuire and Elsie LeBarron Marpe. Over 70-yr. graduates attending were Class of 1945, Donn Brownell and Harvey Burdick; Class of 1944, Robert Thorpe, Stella Sawtell Brownell, and Bertha Piritz Alden. Class of 1943 was Harry Michie. Class of 1942 was represented by Winifred Griswold Ferguson, and Class of 1941 was Norma Brenenstuhl. Gordon McNeilly was attending from Class of 1940. Oldest in attendance recognized were Clara Sheldon Gutermuth and Kasmer Stempek from Class of 1939, graduating 77 years ago.
Traveling the farthest to attend the Reunion were: Elizabeth Davison, Class of 1964, from The Netherlands, and William LeBarron, Class of 1955, from Bakersfield, California.
Thanks were given to all for the generous donations this year. A total of $1,400 was given, which was presented to two deserving graduates at HFCS at the Awards night this year, Olivia Cushman and Cody Humphrey, who will attend College in the fall.
The lovely flower centerpieces were made by Debbie Seney, and thanks also to Philip Leonard who provided us with the programs. Committee members are: Janice Cipperly, Mary Rubino, Sarah Snyder, Ron and Joyce Seifert, and Janice Tate.[/private]
