The Hoosick Falls School Board held its organizational meeting on July 7. Greg Laurin was elected President of the Board of Education for another year, and John Helft was elected as Vice-President.
These officers were sworn in, as were the newly elected Board members Andrew Beaty, Rachel Boisvert, and Joseph Patire.[private]The usual slate of appointments was approved, with no major changes from prior years.
A long slate of summer school staff appointments was approved, and a long list of summer curriculum writing projects were approved.
The Board agreed to lease a driver education car from DePaula Chevrolet for a total cost over three years of $10,865. Superintendent Facin said Chris Marsh has been certified as a drivers ed teacher. Facin said distracted driving, speeding, and reckless driving among teenagers are serious issues, and the School would like to raise awareness among their students of the danger of driving irresponsibly.
Facing said the school’s water filtration system is up and running. All of the water fountains in the school are brand new, and include a spout to fill water bottles.
The Board of Education will hold a workshop on August 11 at 6 pm in the High School Cafeteria. The State of the Schools report will be presented at that meeting. The next regular monthly meeting of the Board of Education will be on August 25 at 7 pm in the High School Cafeteria.[/private]
