Pressed for an earlier than normal decision of a proposed sub-division, the Berlin Planning Board met in a special session on Monday, July 11.

Philippe and Melanie Heffley indicated to the Board at its June meeting, they wished to subdivide their 72-acre homestead at 429 Green Hollow Rd, to carve out an 8-acre lot with their house which they planned to sell. The Heffleys said the proposed buyer was looking to close as soon as possible, in order to be ready for the start of the new school year. The Heffleys likewise were looking to re-locate to Michigan as soon as possible, for similar reasons. The Board accepted their application and SEQR report in June and scheduled the early public hearing to accommodate all parties. Planning Board Chairwoman Pam Gerstel said one person spoke at the public hearing, concerned about what plans the Heffleys might have for the remaining 64 acres. The Heffleys plan to maintain ownership for now. The Board voted to approve the sub-division unanimously. The Board meets in it regularly scheduled session on July 28.
