June 23, 2016 By eastwickpress

Berlin’s 2016 July 4th parade will be held on Monday, July 4, stepping off at 11 am. The theme this year is, “AMERICANA.” We invite you and/or your organization or business to join us in celebrating Independence Day 2016 by participating in our annual parade, the only July 4th parade in Rensselaer County! [private]
Gather your friends, family, organization or employees together and join the parade! There is no entry fee. Cash prizes awarded for non-profit floats. The Grand Prize float is awarded $125. Other float award categories are “Best in Theme”, “Funniest” and “Prettiest”, with prizes ranging up to $100. New this year is a “Best Business” ribbon for best float by a business or commercial entry.
Ribbons will also be awarded for marching groups, costumed walkers, antique and classic/modified automobiles, boats, antique equipment, trucks, equestrian entries and decorated bicycles. Awards also will be presented to fire companies for best appearing and most in line. Due to legal restrictions, no ATVs will be allowed except for those pulling a float with a rigid support. We encourage you to use the theme in planning your entry but it is not required.
Participants will arrive at Berlin Elementary School at 9:30 am and check in. Judging begins at 10 am, and the parade steps off at 11 am.
Participation Forms can be found on the Town of Berlin website at www.berlin-ny.us/julyparade.htm. Your completed form should be sent to us via mail or email at the contact information below. For more information or for a participation form, call Jean at (518) 658-3010 or Carol at (518) 658-3936 or email us at berlinjuly4thparade@yahoo.com.
Support The Tradition!
It is only through community support that we are able to continue this great hometown tradition. This annual event would not be possible without our generous donors. Please consider supporting the parade with your financial gift. Contributions should be made payable to Berlin July 4th Parade Committee and mailed to PO Box 66, Berlin, NY 12022.[/private]
