June 25 And 26 At Two Local Parks
Grafton Lakes State Park and Cherry Plain State Park will offer the opportunity to go fishing without a license on Saturday and Sunday, June 25 and 26, as part of the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Free Fishing Weekend. [private]Grafton Lakes State Park is also offering “Go Fish!,” a fishing clinic led by DEC’s Fisheries Educators, on Saturday, June 25 from 9 am to 1 pm.
Saturday’s drop-in fishing clinic meets by the boathouse on Long Pond in Grafton Lakes State Park. Children and parents will learn the basics of fishing and identification. Fishing poles will be provided by DEC for this free class. Many children catch their first sunfish during this program each year, so come try your luck.
Grafton Lakes State Park is open daily from 8 am to dusk and for swimming from 10 am to 6 pm through Labor Day. Parking fees are $8 per vehicle.
