More than 200 people were in attendance on a fine spring day to help Park Naturalist Liz Wagner release young trout they have been growing in a tank in the park office all winter. [private]
All got to encounter the brown trout close up, while children made fish prints of local species, learned to cast and tie mock fly lures. The participants also checked out the tiny plankton sampled from Second Pond, where the release occurred. The attendance at last Thursday’s event was more than triple that of previous years.
This Saturday is the annual “I Love My Park Day.” Fans of Grafton Lakes are invited to spend a morning in service to the park, working on trails and other beautification projects for spring. The event runs from 9 am until noon.[/private]
