Trophies were presented to the overall winner and to the first finisher from the Town of Hoosick. This year, the overall winners were from out of town. For the men, Chong-Huan Son of Latham came in first, and in the women, it was Daniele Cherniak from Cohoes. First place finishers from Hoosick were Nicholas Houghton and Brittany Pine.
The Town of Hoosick Lions Club is part of the largest service membership organization in the world with 1.4 million members world-wide. Started by Melvin Jones and given a mission by Helen Keller, the Lions Clubs around the world work for sight conservation. The local club provides such community services as eyeglasses for those in need, support to the HACA Food Pantry, for the Northeast Association for the Blind, and for the Lions Eye Institute in Albany.
The Lions Club offers thanks to the Village of Hoosick Falls Highway Department and Police Department, the Hoosick Falls Fire Department, North Hoosick Fire Department, the West Hoosick Fire Department and the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad for their help in securing a smooth and safe day for all.[/private]
