Rensselaer Plateau Alliance invites you to a Land-Owner’s Open House on Wednesday, May 18 from 3 to 7 pm at Old Daley on Crooked Lake in Averill Park, NY. [private]Land use attorneys, forestry, solar power and conservation experts, and representatives from local organizations will be available to answer your questions about managing woodlands for habitat and forestry; land conservation; and legal questions about land use. In addition, RPA staff will be available to discuss ongoing opportunities of the Forest Legacy Program.
A recently funded Forest Legacy project will conserve 12,348 acres on the plateau by paying participating landowners for development rights. It will create a conserved area that stretches for 14 miles and links state land (Cherry Plain State Park), county land (the Dyken Pond Center), and the new Rensselaer Plateau Community Forest.
The Land-Owners Open House is free to the public. Refreshments will be served. For more information visit www.rensselaerplateau.org.[/private]
