Softball Suffers Through Tough Week

HF 3 – Mechanicville 11

Mechanicville, 4/17. Abby Gilson went 3 for 3, including a double, in a rare Sunday game held to make up some of the postponed games earlier in the season. Lizza Ryan, Madeline Ellis, Sydney Ellis and Stephanie Merwin each had a hit. Erika Quackenbush pitched.

HF 0 – Hoosic Valley 5

HFCS, 4/16, HF (O) 1-3, (L) 1-2. The Panthers faced Hoosic Valley in a Saturday matchup on a spectacular day for a ball game. The Indians scored three runs in the top of the third inning for all the runs they needed for a win on this day. The Panthers couldn’t get the bats working and were held scoreless for the game. Allysa Ellis was on the mound for the Panthers

HF 4 – Greenwich 5

Greenwich HS, 4/15. After scoring a run in the bottom of the top of the sixth to tie the game, the Panthers held the Witches scoreless to keep the game tied into the seventh and final inning.The visiting Panthers were unable to get any runs across in their part of the inning. Greenwich was able to score in their half when errors allowed a run to score before there was an out.  Erika Quackenbush pitched for the Panthers. Sydney Miller had two hits, while Liz Ryan, Erika Quickenbush and Madeline Atherton each added one.

HF 5 – Mt. Anthony 13

HFCS, 4/14. Mt. Anthony scored four times in the bottom of the fourth to break a 3-3 game and take a lead they would never give up. The Patriots went on to score 10 runs in the final four innings, while the Panthers could only manage two runs, each a home run. Sydney Miller crushed a fifth inning shot into dead center and Erica Quackenbush homered in the seventh, doing all they could to get the Panthers back into the game. Liz Ryan had two singles, Allysa Ellis, Erica Quackenbush and Mackenzie Ellis each had a single. Allysa Ellis took the loss on the mound.[/private]
