Town Agrees to Purchase Backhoe
by Alex Brooks
At a Special Meeting of the New Lebanon Town Board held on April 4, The Board opened bids for a backhoe that the Town wishes to purchase. [private]Four bids were received, and after some discussion the Board accepted the recommendation of Highway Superintendent Jeff Winestock to purchase a Case 580SN WT from Monroe Tractor.
The price of the new machine was $96,000, and Monroe Tractor offered $41,000 for trade-in of the Town’s current backhoe, a 2010 Case 580SM, so the net cost to the Town will be $55,000. The purchase was approved by a vote of 3-0, with Councilmen Baumli and Smith joining Supervisor Teal voting in favor. Councilman Geraldi abstained, and Councilman Evans was not present. The motion was subject to review and approval by the Town Attorney.
Supervisor Teal plans to research financing options for this purchase and present them for Board action at the April 12 meeting.[/private]
