Select members of the Berlin Senior High School Choir will be Choir Rockstars and perform on stage with Foreigner on Thursday, April 28 during the group’s performance at Proctors in Schenectady. Berlin students will be singing with Foreigner during the hit song, “I Want to Know What Love Is.” [private]Berlin won the chance by entering a contest sponsored by Foreigner and the Grammy Foundation. Berlin has the honor of being the only school participating. Students prepared for the contest audition tape last month, learning the four-part arrangement (I want to know what love is) and dance in two days and recording the song and filming the video in another two days. The four short days of dedicated practice paid off!
Students were excited to be a part of this contest and the chance to meet and sing with Foreigner. “Students were 100% behind this project and very passionate, they knew more about Foreigner than I did!” said music teacher Leslie Eliashuk. Eliashuk had the help of high school seniors Laura Rider, videographer, Juliena D’Alessio, assistant videographer, and Joey Sweener, video editor, in creating the contest video.
Berlin High School Choir not only has this amazing opportunity to perform with the band, they will also be receiving a $500 grant sponsored by Foreigner. Foreigner is proud to join the Grammy Foundation in an effort to help keep music education alive in high schools all over the country. The band has donated thousands of dollars to individual schools and to the Grammy Foundation.
