Senior Ryan Condo nominated the science program at Hoosick Falls Elementary School for this grant. Ryan has a special connection to Red-Kap, as his grandfather Anthony Famiano is the President and CEO of the company.
Ryan is excited to give back to the school where he has spent the majority of his educational career. “It is rewarding to be able to enhance the science education that the kids in the elementary school are receiving. I am proud to be part of helping to make our school better for the next generation.”
High School Earth Science and AP Environmental Science teacher Deb Mabey is working as part of the team developing the science curriculum for elementary students in preparation for the NextGen science standards. She will oversee how the grant is used.
Red-Kap, a local owner-operator of convenience stores and gas stations, has partnered with the ExxonMobil Education Alliance Program. This program will donate $2 million throughout the country by allowing Mobil and Exxon gas stations to nominate schools in their neighborhoods to receive $500 grants for math and science curriculums. Red-Kap has participated in this program for several years.
This year Red-Kap secured $500 grants for nine different schools including Hoosick Falls Elementary School.[/private]
