A student with ambitions for a career in the medical field was featured as a “Kids Who Care’ on WNYT-TV 13. Junior Anna Brewer was visited by WNYT Meteorologist Bob Kovachick last week and interviewed by him for the segment.[private]Meeting Bob was fun for Anna, “It was great to meet him! He was a cool guy. After seeing him on TV, I was like ‘he’s real!’ He’s a very down-to-earth person.”

Anna is very active in her school and the community. She is a junior member of the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad, and the segment was taped at the squad quarters on First Street. Anna enjoys volunteering for the rescue squad saying, “I’ve always been interested in helping people and the medical field. I hope to one day become a nurse or doctor.”

“I didn’t realize how busy I was until they did this segment,” said Anna. “I was surprised when I got the call that I had been chosen. I didn’t know that I had been nominated until then.”

Aside from her studies at Hoosick Falls High School and volunteering for the rescue squad, Anna keeps busy with things such as Girl Scouts (she’s an ambassador, working on her gold award), cheerleading, lacrosse, and drama club. Anna is also in the Town of Hoosick Community Band and plays in four bands at school. Anna also plays four instruments, alto sax, euphonium, tuba, and trombone, with aspirations to learn more instruments.

Beyond school and Girl Scouts she also has a job at a coffee shop, is involved with her church (First United Church), and the HACA food pantry. This summer she is going on tour with Sharon Katz and the Peace Train.

Anna says, “People always ask how do you have so much time in the day – and it may seem frantic, but if you care about it enough you’ll make time for it.”[/private]
