Saturday, June 24, 1837: Today I went with my double team to move Mr. Daniel Kites, he is going to live in my Rodgers house. Said Kites lives in Saratoga County in the town of Morow. This afternoon about 5 o’clock I got to Hoosic Falls and tonight I stayed to David Barnhart the father of brother Wm Holcomb.
[private]Sunday: This morning about eight I started from Hoosic through Cambridge by the Church house through Greenwich Union Village and to Fort Miller Falls and then up the turnpike one gate to Fort Edward Village to Cousin Fullington’s and put out my team about four o’clock. I took tea. I then walked over Fort Edward Bridge into Morow and walked to Reynold’s post office and he directed me where the before-mentioned Daniel Kites lived. I then walked there to the widow Rozell’s and gave notice that I had come to move him as I before agreed. I then returned to Fort Edward to cousin Fullington’s tonight and stayed. I walked about ten miles this evening to find said Kites.
Monday: This morning early I started from cousin Fullington’s before breakfast and passed over Fort Edward Bridge and I went up into Morow to the widow Rozell’s and took breakfast and loaded up a load of said Kite’s goods and said Kites came with me. We started about nine o’clock this morning. We came down to Fort Miller Bridge on the west side of the river and then we took the turnpike and kept down to Waterford all the way on the west side of the river. We stopped once and bated to a temperance house and I paid three cts for cider. We put up about one mile from Waterford Village to Callute’s tavern and then we walked into the Village and we stayed to cousin Samuel Potter’s.
Tuesday: This morning we returned to the tavern of Collutes and I paid my bill which was 31 cts for horse keeping and six cts for bitters. We then came on over Waterford Bridge and we passed through Lansingburgh into Troy and took breakfast in a victuling celler. We then came on home. We called to Sand Lake and bated to Spencer’s old stand and Kites treated. We came onto Nassau to Alps village and bated and we ate some victuals I had. We stopped to Haskins tavern and I paid six cts for bitters and we were detained about two hours on account of rain. We got to my Rodgers house about sunset and unloaded the goods.[/private]
