Lumber Jack’s Coffee And Snacks Offers Fresh-Brewed And Original-Recipe Coffees On Route 7 In Hoosick

What do you get when you combine a young couple’s dream of being entrepreneurs, a shop for sale, and their love of coffee? Lumber Jack’s Coffee and Snacks on Route 7 in Hoosick, a unique little drive-through tucked between the hills of New York and Vermont that serves great coffee and espresso drinks at very competitive prices. And, they have a “coffee club”; for every nine cups, you get the tenth one free.

What used to be the Coffee Connection drive-through that was closed more often than not, is now Lumber Jack’s, and is open every day from 6 am to 6 pm.

Now owned and renamed by Petersburgh’s  Vallis and Duane Goodermote, the shop has a distinct lumberjack theme. Their mascot is a bear wearing the same red and black checked shirt that the baristas wear. Even their menu choices have a lumberjack theme, and everything is brewed on site and is delicious. Offerings include signature drinks like Lumber Jack’s Latte, Chopper’s Choice, and Clear Cut Coffee, all sweetened with real NYS maple syrup. They offer many different kinds and flavors of coffee from regular fresh-ground drip coffee to cappuccino to cafe au lait. They also have hot apple cider, hot chocolate…the works. Cold drinks, too. Snacks include bagels, pizza, muffins and apple cider donuts and dessert items. They also feature seasonal and holiday specials, like the Valentine’s Special called “Let’s Mocha Love,” a white chocolate-raspberry mocha. They are constantly experimenting and inventing new recipes for drinks.

After they bought the shop, set it up and developed their menu, they hired five baristas, from Hoosick, Hoosick Falls, Petersburgh and Pittstown, and they all seem to have a good time working there, serving their customers. Duane and Vallis both have full time jobs, but Vallis had worked in the restaurant industry for ten years, so that’s a big plus.

They hope that because, unlike the previous owner, they are open regularly, people will get in the habit of stopping there often, especially since, as one customer told them, “we serve the best cup of coffee between New York City and Vermont.”

They accept Visa, American Express, Mastercard, Discover and cash. You can call them for more information at 518-686-1614, visit their website at http://lumberjackscoffee.com, or connect with them on Facebook. The address is 5103 State Route 7, Hoosick Falls, New York 12090.

“The community has been very supportive and encouraging,” Vallis said. They look forward to serving many customers, both local and those just passing through.[/private]
