Lady Panthers Win League Title, Boys Are Co-Champs In 3-Way Tie

February 11, 2016 By eastwickpress

by Steve Bradley

The 13-1 HFCS varsity girls sealed the deal for their second consecutive  Wasaren League crown last Friday when they defeated Tamarac on their home court. By not losing a game since a one point loss to Hoosic Valley on January 15, the Ladies cemented their hold on first place. Had the Panthers lost any game they would have tied Hoosic Valley. Hoosic Valley was lurking, one game back, just waiting for the Panthers to make a slip that never happened. In 2015, the Ladies used the league title as a springboard to earn their way to the state championship game.

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk HS, 2/8. After making the long trip in light snow, the Panthers grabbed a 29-16 end of first half lead and led the rest of the way to grab the non-league win. Megan Flynn scored 17 points and hauled in 11 rebounds. Kelly Pine added 15 points and 10 rebounds.

HF 51 – Tamarac- 38

Brittenkill HS, 2/5. Tamarac stayed with the Panthers for the first three quarters and kept it close throughout but the Panthers ultimately came away with the win. Leading 21-16 at the break, Hoosick Falls outscored the Bengals 30-22 in the second half to grab the win and the Wasaren League title. Kelly Pine scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. HF 54 – Greenwich – 34

HFCS, 2/3. Nothing better than a win on Senior Night. With Greenwich hanging in there throughout the first half, the Panthers held a 25-20 halftime lead.
