On Tuesday, February 2, the Hoosick Falls bowling team won their Adirondack League Bowling Tournament at Broadway Lanes in Fort Edward. They finished with a great 6-game total of 6,179 pins using the format of the best five scores of seven bowlers for each game. [private]
Fort Edward finished second with a total of 5,900 pins, Hoosic Valley finished third with a total of 5,899 pins, and Stillwater finished fourth with a total of 5,338 pins. This is the third year in a row that Hoosick Falls has won this tournament and the 10th time out of 15 years that the league has bowled this tournament. Josh McCart led the team with a 578 triple in the morning round followed by a great 726 triple in the afternoon round for a great 1,304 6-game series which was the highest for the entire tournament. Kyla Day followed up with a 593 in the morning round followed by a great 675 in the afternoon round for a nice 1,268 for her 6-game series. A.J. Hurlburt was next highest with a 581 in the morning round and a nice 614 in the afternoon for a 6-game total of 1,195. Tyler Lindsey had a good day with a 592 in the morning and a 551 in the afternoon for a 6-game total of 1,143. Jennifer Sargood also bowled well, with a 543 in the morning and a 556 in the afternoon for a 6-game total of 1.099. Jon Bossoni had a good afternoon round of 247-581 and Chris Snyder had a good morning round of 210-526. Hoosick Falls won the following special awards: Josh McCart for highest 6-game total of 1,304 and Kyla Day for highest triple of 675.
Coach Lang said, “After the morning round we trailed Fort Edward by 39 pins. In the afternoon we had some outstanding team totals of 1,062 in the fourth game, 1,062 in the fifth game, and 1,104 in the sixth game to overcome our deficit to Fort Edward and win the tournament by 279 pins over second place Fort Edward. It was an outstanding effort by the entire team and now we meet Fort Edward on Thursday at Strike Zone Lanes in Saratoga for the overall League Championship title.”
