Five-mile Snowshoe to Geiser Preserve for Animal Tracking will be held January 16 from 10 am to 1 pm. See who is living in the Land Trust’s Geiser Preserve. Winter gives hikers a special opportunity to see the signs of unseen animals in the snow.
[private]The hike will be led on an old logging road in the heart of the Rensselaer Plateau. Then follow the one-mile trail up Perigo Hill with intermittent views of the Catskills and Taconics. The Brown’s Walloomsac Brewery Tour is being held exclusively for Rensselaer Land Trust’s members and friends of the community on January 24 from 12:30 to 3 pm. The intimate tour – conducted by the brewers – will feature the energy saving, waste water processing, and other innovative processes and practices in place at the facility. Learn about the promise and challenges of locally sourcing ingredients such as barley and hops, and the importance of water quality to good tasting beers and ales. A representative of Hop Hollar Farm in Petersburg, a source of Brown’s hops, will also be at this special event tour. Limited to 50 people.
