The Lady Panthers held on to first place in the Wasaren League as they soundly defeated two league foes over the past week. The Panthers stand at 10-1 in league play, with a 14-2 record overall. Hoosic Valley is a game behind at 9-2 (L). Tamarac (8-3), Cambridge (7-40, Stillwater (5-6), Mechanicville (3-8), Greenwich (2-9), and Granville (0-11) round out the teams.

HFCS, 1/22. The Lady Panthers mauled the Stillwater Warriors as they took a 43-14 end of the third quarter lead. The Ladies gave up no points in the third quarter, quite an accomplishment for any team at any level. Meg Flynn was unstoppable as she grabbed 17 rebounds and scored 18 points. Kelly Pine scored 12 points and hauled in 10 rebounds of her own. Nine players scored for Hoosick Falls.
HF 50 – Cambridge 34
Cambridge HS, 1/20. In a game that Hoosick Falls held a slim 28-26 lead after three quarters of play, the Panthers exploded for 22 points in the fourth quarter to win by 16. Turnovers played a key part of the game with the Panther Ladies stealing the ball from the Indians twelve times and scoring 19 points off the turnovers. Kelly Pine had 18 points, Liz Ryan had 10. Meg Flynn had 9 points and 14 rebounds.
With the season winding down, the Panthers have four games remaining on the schedule, three of them league. Friday, January 29, the Ladies will go to Granville for a 7:30 pm start. Wednesday, February 3, the Panthers will host Greenwich with a 7:30 pm start. Friday, February 5, the team will travel down Route 7 to play Tamarac. The schedule says this game begins at 6:30 pm. The regular season concludes at Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Senior High School against R-C-S on Monday, February 8. This game, according to the schedule, is also to begin at 6:30 pm.[/private]
