Rensselaer County Executive Kathleen M. Jimino has announced the 2016 schedule of the County’s Rabies Vaccination Clinics. The clinics aim to prevent human exposure to the potentially deadly disease by immunizing domestic animals and pets that could potentially carry the virus.
[private]“Vaccinating your pets is crucial to preventing your family from being exposed to this potentially deadly disease. I encourage all pet owners to take advantage of these rabies clinics and the educational information available from our County Health Department on this topic as well as a host of other health related issues,” said County Executive Jimino.
During the upcoming clinics Rensselaer County Department of Health staff will provide the appropriate rabies vaccination and booster shots as mandated by the New York State Department of Health to cats, ferrets and dogs. Owners are asked to present their pets’ most recent immunization certificate, and all pets must be secured either in a carrier or on a leash. The first hour of each clinic is dedicated to cats and ferrets with the second hour dedicated to dogs.
