Girls Start Off With A Win

The HFCS girls basketball team traveled to Conklin, NY, between Binghampton and the Pennsylvania border, over the weekend to participate in the Susquehanna Valley Tournament.

[private]Vs. Canton – In Saturday’s season opening game, the Panthers took a 24 – 16 lead at halftime and turned it into a 50 – 36 win over Canton to put themselves into the championship game. Kelly Pine led the way with 16 points, Anna Wysocki added 11 points and nine rebounds, while Megan Flynn dropped in 10 points and had 7 rebounds.

Vs. Susquehanna Valley – In the championship game held Sunday, the two teams from last years state championship game, Hoosick Falls and Susquehanna Valley High Schools, met again. In the first half the Panthers struggled to score, falling behind 27 – 11. After SV outscored the Panthers by seven in the third quarter to take a 47 – 24 lead, the game was out of reach. The final score was 56 – 37. Megan Flynn had 17 points, Kelly Pine had 14 and Anna Wysocki had 9 rebounds.

Hoosick Falls will play away at Hoosic Valley High on Friday, December 11 and home against Cambridge on Dec. 16. Games are scheduled to begin after the JV games at about 7:30.[/private]
