Select members of the Hoosick Falls Central School Senior chorus will once again be traveling to New York City to perform at Carnegie Hall! The chorus will be joining Sarah McLachlan along with other artists and an orchestra to perform on December 4.
[private]Not only is this a wonderful experience for the students, but it is also to benefit a great cause. This is the 10th year of “The American Christmas Carol” which serves as a fundraiser for the Kate Winslett Golden Hat Foundation for Autism.
Senior Chorus teacher Ambigay Yudkoff has been working with this talented group of musicians for years and said, “even though this is the fourth year that we will be a part of this wonderful experience, the excitement of our kids being on that iconic stage never grows old.”
This year Ms. Yudkoff will be bringing 23 singers with her to perform on the legendary Carnegie Hall stage and she observes that, “for new students who experience this each time that we go, the sense of wonder they feel is really heartwarming.”
Jr.- Sr. High School Principal Stacy Vadney said, “regardless of a career goal to pursue music or not, being invited to perform at such an iconic music hall builds confidence, and creates memories that our kids will remember for a lifetime.”
The students are excited about the trip. Senior Casey Jones said, “it is extra exciting to be going because this is my last year at Hoosick Falls Central School. Previously when I’ve gone, it’s been an amazing experience, and I’m excited to share the experience with other people.”
For Junior Reneé Saint Hilaire, this trip is living a dream for her all over again. “This is my third time going to Carnegie Hall and it reminds me of when I was visiting Berklee College of Music, which is my dream school. I was talking to a student and he mentioned that the biggest dream of a Berklee student is to perform at Carnegie Hall. I was proud to tell him I have done so – twice before! He was impressed that I could say I’ve performed there.”
For Freshman Mattison Tomczak this is all a new experience. She said, “this is my first year going to Carnegie Hall and I’m really excited. I have been in chorus since 5th grade and this is a big step for me to be taking because I’ve been in this so long.”
Tickets are on sale now and range in price from $30 to $170. Tickets can be purchased from the Carnegie Hall website (http://carnegiehall.org)
