The race is held in memory of Stephen Colvin who lost his life in a Februany 2014 skiing accident in Maine. Stephen attended college there and was skiing with his football teammates when he went off the ski trail and hit a tree. His friends and family hold events annually to raise money for his scholarship fund. Stephen was loved by everyone who knew him, and he knew everyone.

All participants and their supporters enjoyed the race, whether out to win or just to be a part of it. Medals were given to the male and female winner in each division. Winners were: 19 years of age or under, (M) Nicholas Wright (18:36), (F) Angela Gonzales (23:19); 20 – 29 age, (M) Eric Sauer (24:02), (F) Brittany Pine 22:14; 30 – 39 age, (M) Kasson Sauer (29:39), (F) Heather Mumford 24:53; 40 – 49 age, (M) Joshua Hagadorn (34:05), (F) Elisha Lyons 24:01. There were no over 50 years old entrants.

Organizer Melissa Colvin North (Stephen’s mother) said, “We raised over 3K,” and thanked her friends Katie DiMaggio and Coach Eamon DeGraff for their help organizing the race. “Without them it would not have been such a success,” she said. She also thanked the mayor and the Village Board for their support setting up the race  route.[/private]
