The Panthers made the long trip to Ticonderoga to play the Sentinels (7-1) last Friday. The Panthers struggled early, then staged a nice second half comeback to make a game of it.
Ti, winner of five straight, scored three first half touchdowns and tacked on three PAT’s for good measure to take a commanding 21 point lead by the end of the first half.
[private]The Panthers came out of the halftime break determined to get back in the game. Quarterback Wyatt Cushman connected with Wyatt Whitman for a 35 yard strike to get the Panthers on the board. Lucas Brogue kicked the extra point.
The defense stopped Ti to force punts the first three times they had the ball in the second half.
The next score came on a drive that consisted solely of running plays. Starting on their own 39 yard line, HF pushed the Sentinels backwards for 61 yards. Cushman took the ball the final eight yards for the score. The PAT was no good. The score stood at 21 – 13.
Ticonderoga scored again before the third quarter came to an end on a 13 yard dive up the middle. This put the score at 29 – 13 with just over a quarter to play.
Hoosick Falls couldn’t make up the entire deficit, try as they might. They did score once more on a five yard pass after a drive highlighted by a 42 yard pass from Cushman to Tristan Hunt.
Noah LaBarge rushed for 130 yards and Cushman threw for 127 yards.
Friday evening October 30 the Panthers will face Rensselaer High School (4 – 4) on the HFCS field. Game time is 7 pm. [/private]
