Monday, October 12: Fall Foliage Hike at Bennington Battlefield at 10:30 am. Did you know we’ve added trails to this historic site? Come walk over the grounds where few trees stood during the battle 238 years ago, but majestic maples now adorn the hillsides with fall colors. The Battlefield is located off of Route 67 in Hoosick Falls. Pre-register: 279-1155.

[private]Friday, October 16: Outdoor Tykes: PreK Program at 10:30 am. Come enjoy the beauty of Autumn with this hands-on program for small children. These fun-filled nature programs are free because we want to encourage all folks with young children to engage in the outdoors! Come play outside! Program meets at Shaver Pond Center, 194 Shaver Pond Road, Grafton. Pre-register: 279-1155.

Friday, October 16: Star Watch at Grafton Lakes State Park at 6:45 pm. Enter via winter entrance on North Long Pond Road and follow signs to program. Cloudy skies may cancel—call Bernard to confirm: 658-9144

Saturday, October 17: Spectacular Snags Nature Hike at 10 am. As a tree dies, it surrenders to the forest around it. Its imposing structure becomes a hunting perch, a safe place to rear young, and a food source for animals and fungi. Join us on a nature hike to celebrate dead trees and the new life they sustain. Please pre- register:279-1155

Sunday, October 18: If These Rocks Could Talk: Geology Tour at 10 am. A geologist is really a storyteller, and David DeSimone will tell you a tale that goes back over 500 million years! Evidence of ancient volcanoes, glaciers, and ancient mountains will be shared during the hike. Pre-register: 279-1155 (Note: This program was changed from its previously scheduled October 12 date.)

Saturday, October 24: 8th Annual Trick or Treat Nature Trail from 4 to 7 pm. Meet forest friends along the Wild Wood trail, lit by jack-o-lanterns. Discover how some forest creatures that people sometimes fear are actually allies of us all! Costumes encouraged. $3/person or $10/family. Pre-register early as program will fill up!
