Petersburgh – Mildred (Millie) Brimmer Lapp went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 21, 2015. She was born on July 5, 1923 in Petersburgh to the late Edna Powers Brimmer and Forrest (Jack) Brimmer. She was educated in the Petersburgh District #4 School and graduated from the Walter A. Wood High School in Hoosick Falls in 1941. She married Donald William Lapp Sr. in 1943 and loved him for 62 years until his death in 2005. She was also preceded in death by her only sister, Frances Bentley.
[private]Millie worked many years as a payroll clerk at Montgomery Ward in Menands, NY and then as a payroll specialist at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy, NY from where she eventually retired.
She and Don were both very active in the Eastern Star and Mason Lodges in Petersburgh and enjoyed the evenings where they would be all dressed “to the nines” in tux and evening gowns for their “special” meetings.
She was also very active in her church and singing in choir was always a big part of her life. Music always filled her home. She would play hymns on the piano and the family would sing along.
Millie and Don enjoyed many happy years of retirement in warm North Port, Florida, where they attended the Biscayne Baptist Church. When back in Petersburgh, they were faithful attendees at the First Baptist Church of Hoosick Falls.
Millie is survived by sons Donald William Lapp Jr. (Carol) Perry, NY, and Stephen Craig Lapp (Christine – deceased) Sarasota, Fl, and many loving grandchildren and great-grand children as well as nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank all those who have offered kind expressions of love and condolence for us and our mom both in New York and Florida. We know that as a Christian woman she is with our Dad, and they are both praising the Lord, and we have the assurance we will see them all some day.
Relatives and friends may attend a memorial service to celebrate Millie’s life at the First Baptist Church of Hoosick Falls on Saturday October 17 at 11 am.[/private]
