Letter to the Editor

October 22, 2015 By eastwickpress

To the Editor/Eastwick Press:

I just want to comment on this past Saturday evenings benefit, held for the Center for Rehabilitation, (Hoosick Falls Health Center to most of us).  For the first time, the “Younger Generation” put on this event – with guidance and great input from the experienced and dedicated Joyce Davis – and what a job they did!

[private]It was wonderful to see and enjoy the results of what these “young folks” accomplished, from the planning,  to the execution of this gala.  The only thing they could not control was the weather – which was miserably cold.  I want to acknowledge a few folks (while hoping not to leave out any of the other amazing people) – Christina LeStage White was the caterer and what a job she did!  Also, Christina Kovage,  Andrew Messersmith, Sue Kovage (“The Fabulous Cookie Maker”), and Gerry McAuliffe and crew. Great music was provided by Together Again, the band of Hoosick Falls’ own Brennan McGuire and his wife, Jackie (they are REALLY GOOD), and by ‘The North and South Dakotas’, who were also excellent.  It must be noted that these musicians were freezing, but no one heard that from them!

The presentations included a wonderfully displayed table of “Silent Auction” items; a most attractive bar;  and beautifully decorated tables. I was told that the one major learning experience for the committee was to plan next year’s event in September.  Sincere thanks to all who so generously donated the items for the auction; they were spectacular – and to “Hobson’s Choice” for the decorations and centerpieces.

I’m sure that I have left something or someone out, but please forgive my unintentional lapse.  I just want to say THANKS to all of you “youngsters” – you are the future and hope of this town and it was great to hear one of you say that it was “payback time” to the community who gave them so much!

Sincerely,

Marge Marker[/private]
