Hoosick Falls High School senior Jeffrey Brewer recently received a Letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Program for outstanding performance in the Preliminary SAT / National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

“He is an all-around, solid student who has taken advantage of every opportunity we offer, that syncs with his interests”, said Hoosick Falls Jr.-Sr. High School Principal Stacy Vadney. “Jeffrey is a genuinely nice person, a dedicated and hard worker, and he’s very focused.”
Jeffrey is planning to pursue a career in either engineering or physics, and he said, “I’m very excited to pursue greater academics through college and even more excited to learn as much as I can.” He added, “thank you to my parents and teachers who have always been more than supportive while I have been trying to accomplish everything; it really has helped me every step of the way.”
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise for placing among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who participated in the 2015 competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test in 2015.
Commended Students are named on the basis of a nationally applied Selection Index score that may vary from year to year and is typically below the level required for participants to be named Semifinalists in their respective states. Commended Students do not continue in the competition for National Merit® Scholarships.[/private]
