Saturday, April 2, 1836: I am unwell. Today Mr. John Sackett moves into my house that stands near Rowland Danford. Said Sackett has the house one year from yesterday and the garden up to the big rock.[private]Sunday: I took my single wagon and carried my wife and daughter Angeline to what is called the Saturday Meeting House to hear Elder Spoor preach. Some bad drifts for a wagon to pass through.
Tuesday: Today I rode to town meeting on horseback to Mr. Bennet’s tavern. I paid six cts and treated James Harringon and Jemme the Dutcher treated me. Today our Jackson ticket was all elected to a man, and today Eliza Wylie came and is making my wife a green French mereno dress.
Monday, May 23: I plowed what is called my barnyard for potatoes and furrowed it. I took my single wagon and carried two bushels of ears of corn and exchanged with Mr. Salmon Oins for two bushels of seed corn for my corn failed of coming up. The seed I had of Ephraim Pierce. This evening I shelled it and put it to soak in warm water, and my son Geo P plants said potatoes yard.
Tuesday: Today I planted over corn and planted over all my corn, three acres of it.
Friday I was quite unwell with a pain in my head and puking. I only tended to my chores.
Sunday: I tended to doctoring my horse that was sick with the horse distemper.
Thursday, June 9: I worked on the highway with my team and plow and had 3 days credited me. Platt Wylie is the overseer of the highway.
Friday: I ashed corn.
Sunday: Today I went to Lebanon with my covered wagon to the Methodist quarterly meeting and carried my wife and family. I paid 12 cts for the gate and I came home through our town and shun the gate.[/private]
