St. Mary’s Academy’s new principal, Susan Bulmer, brings much experience and passion to her position at the Hoosick Falls Catholic school. She grew up in Clifton Park and Troy, where she graduted from Catholic Central High School. From there she went to HVCC and on to the College of St. Rose where she earned Masters Degrees in both music education and educational administration.

Her teaching career began as a music teacher at St. Jude’s in Wynantskill. She then served as assistant principal and music teacher in the Berlin School District. She was also an administrator in Chestertown, NY and at Academy of Holy Names in Albany. “It feels wonderful to be back in rural eastern Renssalaer County,” she said, explaining that she is comfortable in a small, tight-knit community like Hoosick Falls, and glad to be in a family-oriented environment that supports faith-based Catholic Education.
Bulmer’s vision for SMA is to keep moving forward with an academically challenging learning environment that will prepare students for the 21st century. She is excited about using the Higher Power Learning Grant that the school just received to help achieve that goal.
She welcomes new art teacher Alexis McWhorter and Kindergarten teacher Catherine Buser to the faculty.
As for the opening day of the 2015-2016 school year, she said everything was going smoothly and her first order of business was to get to know the St. Mary’s students, so off she went to have lunch with the elementary school students.[/private]
