Panther Golfers Off To Hot Start

The HFCS golf team has started the season off with a bang by decisively taking their first three matches from their opponents.

[private]HF 4 – Mechanicville 1

In the first match of the season, held August 20 on the Hoosick Falls Country Club home course, the Panthers faced Mechanicville. Ryan Bloomer (HF) took a 4-3 over Tanner Lettrick. Mathew Smith (HF) took a 5-4 win over Jake Popiel. Conner Smith (HF) took a 5-3 win over Tim Coleman. Hayden Smith (HF) took a 3-2 win over Nick Billert. Alex Ciullo (Mech) took a 4-3 win over Madison Taber. Ryan Bloomer was medalist with a 39. Ryan Bloomer, Mathew Smith and Connor Smith shot sectional scores.

HF 4 –  Hoosic Valley 1

Playing at the Hoosic Valley home course Battenkill Country Club on August 21, the Panthers outscored the Hoosick Valley Indians 4-1. Matt Espy (HV) won over Ryan Bloomer, 2 up. Mathew Smith (HF) won over Joe Felt, 4-3. Conner Smith (HF) won over Brett Norman, 3-2. Hayden Smith won over Blake Wiegert, 4-3. Madison Taber (HF) won over Justin Beaudion, 3-2. Ryan Bloomer, Mathew Smith, Conner Smith and Hayden Smith each earned sectional scores, Matt Espy was the medalist.

HF 3½ –  Cambridge 2½

Playing at the HFCC as the home team on Monday, the Panthers defeated Cambridge. Daniel Genevick (Cam) won against Ryan Bloomer, 1 up. Mathew Smith (HF) tied Brandon Taber, 2-1. Conner Smith (HF) tied Nethanel Woodcock. Hayden Smith (HF) won over Ethan Jeskie, 4-2. Brad Gerox (Cam) won over Madison Taber, 1 up. Gavin Playotes (HF) broke the tie against Ben Epler, 3-1. Ryan Bloomer (HF), Hayden Smith (HF) and Daniel Genevick (Cam) earned sectional scores. Genevick was also the medalist.

Wednesday, August 26, the Panthers face Stillwater at the Saratoga Lakes Golf Club. Thursday, August 27, the team will host Granville. Monday, August 31, will be away against the Greenwich Witches. Finally, Wednesday, September 2, will find the team traveling to Tamarac.[/private]
