They moved here in 2013 so Deb could be near her father, John Norlund, in his later years. Pastor Julian has been ordained in Christian ministry of various denominations. He was  ordained in 1987 by the Southern Baptist Church,  and since then he and Debra have had varied careers serving The Lord.

In Florida, they started their careers as church planters and founded two independent churches. Julian served on pastoral staff with several churches. He also served as Director of Industry at Jacksonville City Rescue Mission and founded Andrew’s House, a home for men. Prior to moving to Petersburgh, Julian was Assistant Pastor/Evangelist at Calvary Church in Jacksonville.

In New York,  in earlier years, he served as Director of Evangelism in the Baptist convention of New York. He was appointed by the mayor of Utica to the youth advisory board. There he also served as Pastor and Director of the inner-city youth camp aka, “Corn Hill Kids” of the Order of the Sisters of St. Margaret.

Julian brings a long history of evangelism and outreach experience, working in “Here’s Hope, Jesus Cares For You”, a world-wide Southern Baptist simultaneous revival, Billy Graham Crusades, and the March For Jesus in Jacksonville, Florida. He also led Bible studies with the coaching staff of an NFL team.

Julian served in the USAF during the Viet Nam war and US Army Reserve during the first Gulf War. He has been happily married to his missionary partner Debra for 31 years. Together they have six children (two adopted) and eleven grandchildren.

Julian’s passion is to engage people with the love of Jesus. He loves to teach biblical topics to help others find freedom from sin, and to discover their service and place in the Kingdom of God. He  is committed to preaching, teaching, and sharing the redeeming love of Jesus Christ.

He and his wife bring a deep commitment to serving the congregation of Mountain Chapel and its surrounding community.[/private]
