New Lebanon Student Leaders Recognized At HVCC

June 4, 2015 By eastwickpress

submitted by Erin Clary

Six Walter B. Howard Elementary School students were recognized for their commitment to education and health during the 30th Annual Sandra G. Morley Physical Education Student Leadership Awards at Hudson Valley Community College on May 4.

The awards are sponsored by the Capital Zone of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (AHPERD).

Since 1985, AHPERD has been recognizing students for their character, sportsmanship, citizenship and leadership both inside and outside of the classroom.

Elementary and middle school students are nominated by their physical education teachers. The selection criteria for the awards requires that the student: demonstrates responsible personal and social behavior, sportsmanship and citizenship, desires to learn and improve, exhibits a physically active lifestyle, demonstrates leadership and is a positive influence on peers, and has contributed toward the total school program.

New Lebanon Central School District’s 2015 recipients were Mikayla Corsey, Ryleigh Keating, Henry Miller, Jaden Tompkins, Tyler Darcy and Charlie Gadomski.
