The Taconic Valley Soccer Club has started its Spring program. This past month K-6th grade youngsters have been coming together at Berlin Elementary school twice a week to practice soccer in an instructional setting. The club also has two older teams in the CDSYL Spring travel league that play and practice at BES.
TVSC has both a girls and a boys U19 travel team this spring. If you are interested in seeing some exciting soccer and can’t wait for the Fall, check out www.CDYSL.org for the latest on when the TVSC teams are playing.
The boys team traveled to Fishkill this weekend for tournament play. The boys had a great, sunny day to play and it wasn’t too muggy. In their first game they started off with a 0-0 halftime score but minutes into the second half they found the back of the net and were off and running. They scored three more times before the ending whistle to win 4-0 against a strong southern team. The second game started off the same way with a lot of play up and down the field before the other team got one in past the TVSC defense. TVSC had ample oppertunities to rally back but just couldn’t find the same rhythm they had in the first game. TVSC lost to the team that ended up undefeated in the tourney. They came back determined to get a second win in their third game and had to earn it against a scrappy team. The first half ended 1-1 with both teams feeling the heat. Late in the second half TVSC scored on a breakaway and worked to hold on to the lead but gave up a goal. After some stoppage time due to injuries and crowd control TVSC had a couple of close calls both offensively and defensively. With just seconds to go the TVSC defense drove the ball up past midfield to their striker who took off and drilled it through the goalie to get the win 3-2. The boys ended up second over-all.
