Vs. Cambridge – After the quick trip up Route 22, the Panthers took to the field against rival Cambridge (2 – 8, 2 – 11 overall). After getting a one run lead in the top of the first, the Panthers surrendered that lead in the bottom when Cambridge plated two runs. From there, the Panthers dominated, outscoring the Indians 9 – 0 for a 11 – 2 win. The Panthers scored in every inning but the second. Josh McCart had two singles and two RBI’s. Ryan Sanders had two singles.
Senior pitcher Kealan Hitt (4 – 3) got the win on the mound, but the team suffered a major loss to its post-season hopes in this game when he was hit by a line drive shot in the forearm after a pitch. Hitt’s arm was broken and his season has come to an end. Hitt was a major part of the Hoosick Falls pitching rotation and his loss means big adjustments heading into the post-season.
Vs. Stillwater – The Panthers traveled to Stillwater and proceeded to outscore the Warriors 8 – 1 to bring home the win. Senior Garrett Wright rapped a double and a single to knock in 2 runs, while Alex Mendez had two singles and two RBI’s of his own. Noah Conety and Shane Richard each had two singles. Colby Davendonis had one single that resulted in two RBI’s. Wyatt Whitman (5 – 1) pitched 6 and 1/3 innings for the win, with 10 strikeouts.
Vs. Stillwater – The Warriors did the traveling on this warm day, and provided a very entertaining game after they arrived. Stillwater (6 – 6, 6 – 6 overall)put the heat on the Panthers early when they jumped out to a 6 – 2 lead by the end of the third inning. After the Warriors failed to score in the top of the fourth, the Panthers battled right back in the bottom of the inning by scoring five runs to grab a 7 – 6 lead. Stillwater scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a one run lead, then the Panthers reclaimed the lead in the bottom by scoring three runs of their own for a 10 – 8 score. Each team was able to score one run in the sixth, bringing the score to 11 – 9 Panthers. Stillwater didn’t go down easy, scoring one more run in the top of the seventh, but the Warriors fell short, 11 – 10.
Garrett Wright had a double and a single, scoring three times. Colby Davendonis had a single, batted in two runs and scored twice. Wyatt Cushman (1 -0) got the win on the mound.
Vs. Greenwich – Hoosick Falls (10 – 3, 10 – 8 overall) defeated Greenwich Tuesday afternoon, 8 – 1. Greenwich got one run in the top of the first that turned would be their only run. The Panthers, on the other hand, scored two runs in the first, third, fifth and sixth innings to gather another win. Sophomore Ryan Sanders had a big day, getting his first career pitching win, which was topped off with six strikeouts. Sanders also helped his own cause by hitting two singles and batting in two runs. Noah Conety had three singles and two RBI’s and Wyatt Whitman rapped out two singles and had three RBI’s.
