Berlin Ninth Graders Create “Rustic Romance” Evening

May 14, 2015 By eastwickpress

submitted by Kathy Despart

Ninth Graders from Berlin Central High School are gearing up to create a “Rustic Romance” themed evening for their parents, teachers and all adult members of the community.  The class has been trying to come up with fun, new ways to raise money for the “extra” things that come along during the high school years such as prom, class trips and educational events.  Under the supervision and guidance of their class advisor, Mrs. Diane Mosher, the students decided to create an evening for adults to come out for a great meal, socialize with community members, and dance the night away.  Students will design and make all the decorations, cook and serve the meal, provide a photo opportunity and create a great atmosphere for dancing and having fun.

When asked why they wanted to raise money, the students’ main concern to was to offset the high price of prom and senior trips in an atttempt to make it affordable for all students.  One student said that she knew many kids that couldn’t afford to go to prom because the tickets were too expensive.   The students agreed that they want everyone to be able to attend such events without money ever being an obstacle.  Therefore, as freshmen, they are starting early to raise money for their class.

The ninth graders urge the community to save the date. The event is May 30th from 6:30 to 10 pm at the Berlin High School. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets are $20 per person or $35 for two, which includes appetizers, dinner, dessert and music provided by DJ Craig Mosher.  If you would like to order a ticket, please contact Kathy at kdespart@aim.com.

So come out for a wonderful evening of Rustic Romance including good food, music and lots of dancing.
