Baseball Third In WASAREN League

Vs. Tamarac – Hoosick Falls hosted Tamarac and came away with a 4 – 1 win against the Bengals. Wyatt Whitman led the offense with two singles and one RBI. Shayne Richard and Colby Davendonis each had two-out RBI singles. Whitman was also the winning pitcher. During the seventh inning he gave up his first run of any kind on the season after 26 scoreless innings.

Vs. Mechanicville – The Panther offense roared on this day as they defeated the Red Raiders 14 – 3. Noah Conety had a big day at the plate, belting two doubles and one single, knocking in three RBIs and scoring three times. Alex Mendez had three singles, one RBI and scored once. Shayne Richard and Wyatt Whitman each hit a double. Pitcher Kealan Hitt (2 – 3) got the win.

The Panthers traveled out west to participate in the Fort Plain Tournament Saturday and play in a scrimmage in Cooperstown’s Doubleday Field on Sunday.

Vs. Meekel Christian (12 – 3) – Final score 21 – 13, HF wins.

Vs. Fort Plain (8 – 3) – Championship game, 7 – 0, HF loses.

Vs. Hoosic Valley – Back home on Monday, it wasn’t the Panthers day. Facing the potent Hoosic Valley offense, the Panthers got outgunned, 19 – 1. Ace pitcher Wyatt Whitman started the game on the mound, lasting only into the second inning. By the end of two inning, the Indians had 11 runs in the books while holding the Panthers scoreless. Hoosic Valley’s John Rooney, headed to Division I Hofstra University on a baseball scholarship, won the game as the Indian’s pitcher. Rooney also helped his cause by hitting a home run over the left field fence.

The Panthers are currently third in Wasaren League standing at 6 – 3 (6 – 5 overall). Hoosic Valley leads the league with a 10 – 0 (15 -1 overall) record.
