The HFCS boys varsity baseball has had a busy schedule in the month of April.
Vs. Mechanicville – The Panthers hosted the Red Raiders at HFCS and proved to be very ungracious hosts. Hoosick Falls jumped out to a 4 run first inning lead and never let up, taking an 8 – 0 win. Wyatt Whitman had his best strikeout outing ever, sending 14 batters back to the dugout with a K, with only one walk. Riley Bacon led the offense with three hits and Alex Mendez rapped a double.
Vs. Mount Anthony – The MA Patriots rapped out eight hits and scored in five of the six innings they batted as they defeated the Panthers 12 – 5 in a game held at MAUHS. Noah Conety took the loss on the mound. Conety did everything he could to help his cause by hitting a double and scoring a run.
Vs. Hoosic Valley – The Panthers traveled down Route 67 to pay a visit to the Hoosic Valley Indians. After going down two runs, the Panthers scored two of their own with the help of the Indians on a bases loaded walk and a passed ball, tying the game in the fifth. The Indians scored one more run in the sixth and held on for the 3 – 2 win. Kealen Hitt took the loss on the mound.
Vs. Cambridge – The Cambridge Indians made the quick trip south to HFCS as the Panthers lay in wait. The Panthers got out to a 12 – 4 lead by the end of the sixth, but Cambridge came back and scored 4 runs in the sixth and 3 runs in the seventh to get the Panthers to take them seriously. Hoosick Falls then steadied the ship and came away with a 12 – 7 win. Wyatt Whitman had three singles and one RBI at the plate. On the mound, Whitman pitched the first six innings (0 runs) and had to return to the mound after when Cambridge plated three runs with no outs in the seventh inning to get within five runs of the Panthers. Whitman gave up 2 hits, had 11 strikeouts and zero walks. Noah Conety had a triple and a single, with one RBI. Shane Richard hit two singles, and scored four runs. Ryan Sanders had a double.
Vs. Granville – Hoosick Falls faced the Granville Golden Horde and came away with a 2 – 0 win. The Panthers scored one run in each of the first two innings and that proved to be enough for the win. Alex Mendez belted a double and scored one of the runs. Kealan Hitt pitched a complete 3 hit game, striking out 16 and only giving up two walks.
Vs. Greenwich – The Panthers made their way up to Greenwich to play the (4 – 1 league, 5 – 3 overall) Witches. During the visit, they pummeled the Witches with runs, outscoring Greenwich 10 – 0.
