“This was another great match between two of the best “C” teams in Section II,” said Coach Lang. “Fort Edward’s match total of 3,951 pins was their all-time best total for the team. After we won the first game by 57 pins, Fort Edward came back and beat us by 120 pins, giving them a lead of 63 pins going into the last game. We started out pretty good in the last game but Fort Edward came on in the end and beat us by 115 pins in the final game, for an overall victory of 178 pins to win the title. I was very proud of how the entire team bowled. They never gave up and kept fighting till the last ball was thrown. Hoosick Falls bowled great but Fort Edward bowled even better,” concluded Coach Lang.
The Hoosick Falls bowling team defended its title at the Adirondack League Bowling Tournament on Thursday, February 12, at Broadway Lanes in Fort Edward. They had an all-time record high 6-game match total of 6,299 pins for five bowlers for the tournament. Fort Edward was second with 6,231, followed by Hoosic Valley with 5,407, and Stillwater with 4,893. Top bowlers for Hoosick Falls for six games were: Josh McCart 300-1,343, Kyla Day 275-1,282, A.J. Hurlburt 223-1,165, Kenneth Marbot 239-1,163, Tyler Lindsey 224-1,157, Jon Bossoni 195-1,075, and Jennifer Sargood 205-1,012. Josh McCart won the award for the highest six game total of 1,343 and Kyla Day won the award for the highest three-game total of 660. Josh would have won the high single game award for his great 300 game but you can’t win more than one award for the tournament. “It was great to come back and beat Fort Edward on their home lanes after losing to them at Sectionals and the League roll offs!” said Coach Lang. “After we fell behind to Fort Edward in the first game by 50 pins, we came back and had a great second game total of 1,166 and a third game total of 1,071 to lead after the morning round by 123 pins. The first game in the afternoon round Fort Edward beat us by 60 pins to cut the lead to 63 pins. We then came back with a great fifth game total of 1,157 and increased the lead to 150 pins going into the last game. Fort Edward beat us by 82 pins in the last game but it wasn’t enough to overcome our 150 pin lead, winning match tournament total by 68 pins. I was very proud of how well the team bowled today beating our toughest rival in the league and in Section II,” commented Coach Lang.
