HFCS Ladies Win Going Into Sectionals

February 19, 2015 By eastwickpress

By Steve Bradley

The Panther Ladies basketball team finished its regular season over the past week with wins over Greenwich and Granville.

HF 65   Greenwich 52

The Panthers got 21 points and 20 rebounds from Megan Flynn to lead the Panthers over the potent Witches. Greenwich, with Alexis Case, is a difficult win, but the Panthers defeated them handily for the second time this season. Rachel Pine added 15 points. Anna Wysocki did her part by pulling down ten rebounds. Greenwich’s Alexis Case scored 19 points.

HF 68  Granville 38

The Panthers never let the Granville Horde even think for a moment they had a chance of winning this game. Blasting out to a 33 – 16 halftime lead, the Panthers never let up and blasted away the Horde by 30 points. Megan Flynn had 18 points and 17 rebounds. Rachel Pine added 13 points, and her sister, Kelly, dropped in 11 points and hauled down 12 rebounds.

The Ladies are ranked number three in the state by the New York State Sportwriters Assoc. With the regular season concluded, the Panthers now move into sectional play. Seedings will be held midweek and games will begin early next week.
