Berlin Central School Teachers Take The Polar Plunge

On Saturday, January 24, nine Berlin CSD teachers voluntarily ran into the icy waters of Long Pond in Grafton Lakes State Park for the 8th Annual Polar Plunge to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

[private]In addition, the teachers received more than $900 in pledges from staff, students and retirees of Berlin CSD to benefit the Michael Richardson Memorial Award for a deserving high school senior. Michael Richardson taught science at Berlin High School for 22 years. He passed away two years ago at the age of 53 from pancreatic cancer.

The Polar Plunge was part of the Grafton Lakes State Park 30th Annual Winterfest.

The teachers include Bill Lawrence, Nick Toole, Brendan Scannell, Karen Day, Bob Gould, DJ Connolly, Nancy Kabir, Matt Christian, Sandy Honsinger and Steve Mellor.
