Christmas Cantata In New Lebanon And Stephentown

December 12, 2014 By eastwickpress

We would like to invite anyone interested in an afternoon of Christmas music to come join us for the presentation of a Christmas Cantata. The choirs from the Immaculate Conception Church in New Lebanon and the Stephentown Federated Church in Stephentown, under the direction of Bev Westfall, Choir Director at the Stephentown Federated Church, have joined forces to produce a Christmas Cantata of music and readings.

The choirs have been rehearsing a number of Christmas selections since the beginning of October. The cantata will contain music chosen by Bev Westfall interspersed with scripture readings chosen and read by Rev. Susan Schultz that enhance the true meaning of Christmas. The music includes some traditional arrangements of Christmas carols like “O Holy Night,” some modern arrangements like “Creation Shall Be At Peace” and, of course, ending with the classical “Hallelujah Chorus” by Handel.

There will be two performances. The first will be on December 13 at 1:30 pm at the Immaculate Conception Church located at 732 US Rte. 20 in New Lebanon. The second performance will take place on December 14 at 2:30 pm at the Stephentown Federated Church located at 1513 Garfield Road in Stephentown.

At each performance a freewill offering will be taken to help pay for the music. Refreshments will be served at the end of the program. Please come and join us for this special Christmas fellowship.
