On Friday, November 21, at 6:30 pm, local storyteller Gil Payette will present the next in his program series on Native American culture and folkways at the Grafton Community Library. His multimedia presentation will focus on Native American musical traditions. “Long before Europeans were here, Native Americans had music. Many Nations were known as singers and dancers for recreation, self-expression and healing. What is known of their whistles, flutes, rattles, rasps, harps, fiddles and bells? There were Bull-roarers and Bear-growlers. The drum represented the heart beat for Mother Earth,” Payette said.
The public is invited to come find out more about the topic in this free program. For more information contact the Library at 279-0580 or visit graftoncommunitylibrary.org/.
