Last Wednesday the Panther boys soccer team made the trip over Route 67 to face a team that took them to overtime earlier in the season. While the Panthers got the overtime win against Mechanicville a day late, they did get the win. Just as in the first match, this game went to overtime, but this time the outcome was not in the Panthers’ favor, ending 4 – 3.
The first half ended tied, 2 – 2. The second half ended in a tied, 3 – 3. With the first overtime period coming to an end, the Red Raiders were able to get a goal and the win. Jake Kinney, Riley Bacon and Michael Haynes each scored a goal for the Panthers. HF – 3, Mechanicville – 4.
Friday the team played Hoosic Valley. Hoosic Valley took a 1 – 0 lead in the first half then the Panthers, on a goal by Tyler Gaines, tied the game in the second half. Neither team could get a goal in overtime. HF – 1, HV – 1.
On Tuesday, the Panthers visited Cambridge. After playing a scoreless tie the first half, Panther Tyler Gaines scored early in the second half to give HF the only goal it needed to come home with a win. HF – 1, Cambridge – 0.
The Panthers will play Stillwater on Thursday, October 9, on the artificial turf. This is an evening game beginning at 7 pm. Saturday, October 11, at 3:15 pm and Monday, October 13, at 1:15 pm, finds the team competing in the Maple Hill Tournament held at Maple Hill High School in Castleton, NY. On Tuesday, October 14, the Panthers will be at home against the Greenwich Witches. Game time is 4:15 pm.
