The Rest Of The Road Well Travelled

September 19, 2014 By eastwickpress

On Wednesday, September 17, even as phase 2 of a repaving project in Stephentown and Berlin was under way, workers from Callanan Industries, contracted to NYSDOT, were busy doing preparatory repaving to another stretch of Route 22, from the county line south to Lebanon Springs. The two jobs come under different Regions of NYSDOT. Rensselaer County is in Region 1 (Capital District) and Columbia County is in Region 8 (Hudson Valley). The road work in Stephentown and Berlin was more extensive, entailing digging up the underlayment, milling it and recycling it in place in phase 1 and then returning later for the actual repaving. In New Lebanon two skin coats are being laid down on the existing surface, which will be followed by the actual repaving. (David Flint photo)
