HF 1 Corinth 0
Last Friday the Lady Panther field hockey team made the long ride to play the Corinth Warriors. In a hard fought game the Panthers made the ride home a little easier by coming home with a 1 – 0 win over the Warriors. Liz Ryan, on an assist from Lillian Hickey, scored the only goal of the game on a corner at the 11:21 mark of the first half. Cassie Sherman had 2 saves on the day. The Panthers had eight shots on goal for Corinth goalie Kaylee Mosher to defend.
HF 3 Warrensburg 0
On Monday the Ladies hosted the Warrensburg Burgers on the HFCS field. In a game that was billed as a test for the Panthers, the Panthers held the Burgers scoreless.
Early in the first half of the game, the Panthers kept the ball in the Burgers’ end of the field and had some opportunities but just couldn’t finish. At the 10:34 mark, Liz Ryan made a shot from twelve feet out that got past the Burger goalie.
That was the only goal of the first half.
In second half action Warrensburg moved the ball better on offense and spent more time near the Panthers’ goal. But Panther goalie Cassie Sherman was there to fend off any shots the Burgers were able to make. Halfway through the second half, Ally Burdick got a shot past the Burgers’ defense to give the Panthers a more comfortable 2 – 0 lead.
With just over six minutes left in the game Liz Ryan put another shot by the goalie, and the Panthers came away with a 3 – 0 victory. Sherman had four saves in goal, and Warrensburg’s Liz Turner recorded seven.
HF 5 Greenwich 0
In Wednesday action against Greenwich, the Panthers notched another win, this time a 5 – 0 shutout with goals by Ally Burdick (3), and Caytlyn Springer and Alexis Carruaeu, one goal each.
The Lady Panthers record now stands at 5 – 0 in league play and 7 – 0 overall.
Over the next week, Thursday, September 18, will find the Panthers traveling to Craryville, NY, to face the Taconic Hills Titans. Game time is 4 pm. On Saturday, September 20, at 2 pm, the Panthers will be the away team against Granville in a game played in Schuylerville on the turf field.
