New Lebanon – Terry Bingham, 68, died peacefully Tuesday morning, September 9, 2014, at his home with his family at his side. Born in Albany, NY, on March 9, 1946, he was the son of the late Robert and Fannie Coons Bingham. Terry was a 1964 graduate of New Lebanon High School and celebrated his 50th Class Reunion on July 12. He married his beloved wife, Judith A. Brown Bingham, on January 16, 1965, in New Lebanon, NY.
Terry was employed for a short while by the former Sampson Hydraulics in New Lebanon. He later began his career with Sterling-Winthrop, which later became Organic Chem in Rensselaer, NY, where he was a supervisor and chemical operator for over 40 years before retiring in 2006. In retirement, his hobby was being a caretaker of homes in the area, mowing lawns and snowplowing.
Terry was a 60 year fan at the Lebanon Valley Speedway, where he enjoyed dirt and NASCAR racing. He even helped build the bleachers as a teenager. He was a loyal hunter, a diehard Boston Red Sox fan and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be missed by his faithful buddy, his dog Marley.
In addition to his loving wife Judy, he is the devoted father of Tammy and husband Bill Sears of West Lebanon, NY, and Stacy and husband Mark Mazzeo of Stephentown, NY, the best uncle of Mitchell and wife Susan Whalen of North Hoosick, NY, and Tracy and husband Dominick D’Agostino of Pittsfield, MA, proud grandfather of Michael Sears and Taylor and Gabrielle Mazzeo, dear brother of Dail and husband Skip Grant of Star, NC, Mary and husband Tim Mooney of Wilmington, NC, and the late Ronald “Porky” Bingham, whose wife Elizabeth survives in Brainard, NY. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Saturday, September 13, at 2 pm at the Hall & Higgins Funeral Home, 457 NY Route 43, Stephentown, with the Rev. Susan Schultz officiating. Relatives and friends are invited and may call prior to the service on Saturday from 11 am to 2 pm at the funeral home.
