The Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center kicks off its summer Junior Naturalist Series on July 2 from 1 to 3 pm. This program will teach Junior Naturalists basic outdoor survival skills. Students will learn how to build survival shelters and how to identify some common edible plants found here at the Dyken Pond Center. A $1 per child donation covers material costs. Junior Naturalist programs will run each Wednesday from 1 to 3 pm and are open to kids of all ages. A complete list of programs can be found at www.dykenpond.org. Pre-registration is encouraged to help with planning but not required and can be done by contacting the Center at dykenpond@fairpoint.net or 658-2055.
Dyken Pond is a Rensselaer County park open daily.
