HFCS Top Ten Students 2014

Hoosick Falls Jr. /Sr. High School is proud to announce the Top Ten Seniors of the Class of 2014.

The Valedictorian is Katelyn Harrison, daughter of William and Gina Harrison, of Hoosick Falls. In her years at HFCS, Katelyn was a member of National Honor Society, Masterminds, Field Hockey, Lacrosse, Key Club and Yearbook. Her most memorable event was going to Washington D.C. twice for the History Bowl Nationals. In the fall, Katelyn will attend Clarkson University.

The Salutatorian is Zoey Haar, daughter of Amanda and David Haar of Hoosick Falls. In her years at HFCS, Zoey was a member of National Honor Society, Masterminds, Drama Club, served as the Editor of the Panther Post and was a JLS Finalist. In addition, she spent her sophomore year studying in Spain, played the violin in the Green Mountain Youth Orchestra and swam on the Bennington Marauders swim team. Zoey will be attending Minerva Schools, studying in a different country each semester.

Lydia Casavant, daughter of Larry and Cindy Casavant of Eagle Bridge, ranks third in the senior class. Lydia has been a member of National Honor Society (Historian), Drama Club, Masterminds and Pep Band. Outside of school she was a member of 4 H and Girl Scouts. In the fall, Lydia will attend Siena College and study Pre-Law. She has been granted guaranteed admission to Albany Law School upon completion of her Bachelor’s degree at Siena.

Megan Mahar, daughter of David and Debra Mahar of Hoosick Falls, ranks fourth in the class. In her years at HFCS, Megan has been involved in Key Club, National Honor Society, Masterminds and Pep Band. In addition, she participated in the Gratitude Project at the local

youth center. In the fall Megan will attend Hobart and William Smith College majoring in Biology and will pursue medical school.

Justin Lynch, son of James and Julie Lynch of Hoosick Falls, ranks fifth in the class. In his years at HFCS, Justin was a member of National Honor Society and spent his free time enjoying golf, life-guarding, hiking and caving. In the fall Justin will be attending The SUNY College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering.

Samantha Lancour, daughter of Gary and Barbara Lancour of Hoosick Falls, ranks sixth in the senior class. In her years at HFCS, Samantha has been a member of National Honor Society, Co-Editor of the Yearbook and served as the Class Treasurer. In the fall, Samantha will attend Saint Bonaventure University and will major in Accounting and Finance.

Jing Yang, daughter of Dan Yan Wang of Hoosick Falls, ranks seventh in the class. Jing has been a member of National Honor Society, Key Club (Vice President), Student Council (Vice President), Earth Club, Masterminds and Pep Band. Jing will attend Albany College of Pharmacy in the fall.

Mollie Henry, daughter of James and Teryl Henry of Hoosick Falls.

Mollie Henry, daughter of James and Teryl Henry of Hoosick Falls, ranks eighth in the senior class. In her years at HFCS, Mollie has been involved in annual blood drives and the recycling program. In addition she has worked at The Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. Mollie will be attending Stony Brook University in the fall majoring in Nursing.

Mattie Whitman, daughter of Karen Whitman and the late Ronald Whitman of Petersburgh, ranks ninth in the class. Mattie has been a member of National Honor Society, Student Council, Pep Band, Drama Club and is the Class Vice President. She received the HOBY Leadership Award, the University of Rochester Xerox Award, the DAR Good Citizen Award and the NHS Jeffrey Stratton Memorial Award. In the fall, Mattie will attend Siena College.

Carsen Williams, daughter of Harold and Brooke Williams of Eagle Bridge, ranks tenth in the senior class. In her years at HFCS, Carsen has been a member of National Honor Society and was a four year Triple Crown Athlete. In the fall, Carsen will be attending The University of New Hampshire majoring in Athletic Training.
